After a few nervous moments yesterday when I almost missed meeting up with the judges I can now reveal (with much excitement) that we won a gold medal for our display. I'm really pleased for everyone involved; all the hard work has finally paid off.
Of course now that the medal's been awarded there's no stopping me; I've already got a great idea for next year!

Soft pink lotus blossom with lush green background. The benefit of rainy season is greener background and a much larger number of lotus blossoms than during dry season. The ponds are full with thousands and more flowers ... and lotus seeds to be harvested. Rainy season is a great blessing for Cambodia and other tropical countries alike.

Wild high grass as resource for roofing material. In tropical countries one of the best and free or cheap roofing material is high grass. Here a farmer girl from a small farm house nearby cuts the strong grass. Later the grass is bundled and dried in the sun - then either used on own hose or also sold on local market as a source of additional revenue.
Bundles of grass as roofing material offer an excellent isolation from the hot tropical sun. Houses with metal roofing often are like a baking oven, while grass covered houses are comfortably cool.
