Bright yellow flower
Dark green are the young fresh leaves - turning yellow brown after blossom. A lotus field is very active and some parts evolve while other parts die. Seed cups with nutritious lotus nuts, lotus buds and open blossom all at once side by side until one blossom season over and the entire field temporarily seems to die and disappear - just to reappear a few weeks later in another full bloom .. if you are lucky like me to live in a tropical paradise such as Cambodia and Philippines.

After a few nervous moments yesterday when I almost missed meeting up with the judges I can now reveal (with much excitement) that we won a gold medal for our display. I'm really pleased for everyone involved; all the hard work has finally paid off.
Of course now that the medal's been awarded there's no stopping me; I've already got a great idea for next year!

Some call the flower blue water lily - others blue lotus - fact is it's a beautiful water flower. Nymphaea Caerulea (Blue Lotus).
